Digos, as the major city of mango production in Davao del Sur, around 50KM away from Davao, it is dubbed as the Mango Capital City of the Philippines. Fruit fly (Bactrocera dorsalis) is one of the major pests that has been a threat to the local industry. Every year, millions of mangos are damaged due to the infestation of fruit flies. According to the local farmers, the average Fruit Damage Rate in Digos is around 50% or even worse.
